Building is what I love doing. Beginning with an internship in college I have deliberately pursued a career in the industry and have never questioned the choice. The past 25 years have afforded me experience on just about every type of construction and I’ve developed my skillset to one of an industry leader. My path has taken me to integrated models of delivery and given me valuable knowledge about the design and development side of the industry as well. In 2014, I brought this unique set of skills along with an intense desire to build a culture to the new venture of 8020 Builders. I look forward to the challenges new projects bring with confidence that the team we have can meet them successfully.

The focus I bring to 8020 Builders is on our culture. I will always be driven by the prospect of creating great spaces through creative interaction in a team environment. Confluent Development (2014-2017)

Executive Vice President of Construction

As EVP of Construction I lead a team of construction management professionals that manage a national portfolio of retail, senior housing, commercial and industrial development projects with an annual volume in excess of $125 million dollars. Along with the balance of the executive team I guide the strategic direction of the company and participate in sales efforts to continually grow the platform.

At Opus I led teams that built over 2 million square feet of projects including office, industrial, retail and multifamily including high rise and corporate build-to-suit products.

The Neenan Company (1998-2005)

Project Manger then Senior Project Manager

The Neenan Company is a vertically integrated design and construction company based in Fort Collins, CO. My time at Neenan allowed me to grow my leadership skills significantly through intense focus on emotional intelligence education and conscious business practices.

During my tenure as a PM at Neenan I built more than 1 million square feet of projects ranging from high-rise office to civic and institutional facilities.

Etkin Construction (1992-1998)

Field Engineer then Superintendent then Project Manager

At Etkin I started my career as a field engineer and advanced to superintendent on multiple projects in the Denver area.  This experience still guides decisions I make today.

My time in the field taught me the basics of how work gets done and how efficiency is measured at the grass roots level.

I am a dedicated and tireless communicator of strategic initiatives with particular interest in translating strategy into accomplishable objectives to empower individuals to create positive change in organizations.

Senior Project Manager

As a Sr. Project Manager, I directed and coordinated the efforts of a team of Engineers and Designers assigned to a given project. I controlled all aspects of design to ensure that projects delivered on schedule and within budget. I initiated and maintained liaison with client and A/E contacts to facilitate design activities. I represented the company in project meetings; managed financial aspects of contracts to protect the company's interests, and developed corporate strategy into specific objectives for staff to accomplish.

I led an incredible team of construction professionals that managed the construction of a 3 year, 120 million dollar, two tower high rise condominium project in Denver, CO. I assumed the leadership role of the team during the 2nd phase of the project, where I was responsible for the overall budget, scope, schedule, and quality of the project delivered. In my time at Opus, I also led portions our local corporate effort to improve performance by operationalizing established strategic success initiatives.

Gerald Martin, Ltd. (1998-2006)

Project Manager

Operationally, I launched an internal system for analyzing and tracking team productivity related to self-performed concrete work, I spearheaded the company-wide effort to implement various project management software systems, and I wrote and initiated the successful business plan to expand the company's operations to Taos, NM.

SUPERINTENDENT

Setting up conditions for work to flow smoothly on projects is a continual challenge that requires me to be alert and focused. It challenges me to grow and learn how to work with new perspectives while also knowing how to make a decision at the time for the job to progress safely and efficiently. 

Being able to learn and improve from the insight of seasoned craftsmen improves my knowledge base and makes me a stronger leader moving forward.  

Outside of work I'm a new dad and I'm more than happy to just be spending time with my fiancé and Inga. 

 

I continue to be rewarded by the relationships that grow over the course of building projects with many different personalities.

Safety of the load is critical in this environment. My responsibilities were placement and securing loads, driving defensively and safely to and from destinations, and maintaining positive relationships with the clients. In the field I was maintaining wells, installing combustors, separators, gas lines, oil lines, oil tanks, pumps, clean up, environmental remediation and ensuring environmental standards. 

Adhering to safety and environmental standards was critical to being successful in the field.

I was lucky enough to work on a variety of different projects during my time with Neenan.

Attention to detail and maintaining professionalism to ensure the delivery of a quality product was something we focused strongly on at The Neenan Company. I spent summer breaks and time off school working in the field as a laborer growing up. When I graduated high school I was hired full time and began work as a carpenter in the field and eventually was hired into a small group who performed many different tasks in the field. 

This is where I learned that I enjoyed the customer satisfaction aspect of the industry and I was able to develop a foundation of skills that help me in the field today. 

pERSONAL INTERESTS

The most important thing to me is being able to spend time with my family. Family time includes cooking, going for scenic drives, cuddling up on the couch while watching movies/tv shows, and watching my little girl's toothless smile from ear to ear. When I have "free time" I enjoy going to car shows, gaming, and target practice. I like to challenge myself with complex processes that grow my dexterity and patience. A good example of this is putting together Metal Earth sculptures, and building personal computers as they require attention to detail and a steady hand.

I have a friendly, caring approach to the world that naturally follows me to my work life.

My grounded approach helps keep the team and people focused on the present needs of projects, so that they move fluidly from phase to phase. Organization keeps my mind clear and that helps me manage all of the details that are so important in this industry.

Over the years I've seen the industry grow and change-especially in the realm of technology. 18 years ago we used to keep details on spreadsheets and in paper files. I remember punching holes in papers and filing documents! 

Similar to a project manager working in the field before being a project manager, my growth has been in the details of the office and flow of business being executed. My most significant growth has always come from helping others-I always learn just a little bit more.

I thrive when I’m at the job site involved in the details that make the business side of projects run smoothly. Being a part of people being their best is what brings me satisfaction at the end of the day .

pERSONAL INTERESTS

I love traveling with my family. Whether it be to the beautiful and fun places we have here in Colorado or other fun destinations, it's always more enjoyable when it's with my son and husband. I'm a volunteer with the Ho-Bo Care Boxer Rescue, a local dog rescue, and help find forever homes for boxer and boxer mixes. I also enjoy music and going out to see big name bands or local musicians. I once played drums in a local band but have settled to watching other people do it as I outgrew my dream of becoming a rock star.

I've been in commercial construction a little over 20 years.

My dad was a framer and a glazer, so I was exposed to the industry as a kid. It was a comfortable career to step into and provide for my family. 

Little did I know that over 20 years later I would still be doing it!

Through the years I've experienced a lot of different aspects of construction. I started working with concrete doing flatwork, and grew my skills over time. The experience in the field performing the work helps me keep jobs running smoothly.

I'm detail oriented and being able to lead a crew of people, even people you have never met, making something out of nothing.

Being able to drive around this town and show the kids and the family what I've been a part of is very satisfying.

Foreman

As a carpenter, I learned various types of work in the field; concrete flatwork, dry packing, sack rubbing concrete walls, framing, installing backing, setting different types of doors and jambs, door hardware, form setting, and a few others.


Pinkard Construction: 2000-March 2006

Carpenter Foreman

Ran form setting crews. From walls to decks, doing take offs for concrete, shooting elevations, running theodolites and total stations bringing buildings out of the ground.

Opus: March 2006- August 2015

General Foreman /Superintendent

Superintendent on The Pinnacle as City Park South-a two tower condominium project. It just hit 8 years old and had zero construction defect lawsuits.

Holland Construction:August 2015-August 2016

Superintendent

Worked on the 17W project, 180 million dollar project, multistory with three towers 14 floors each. Commercial on the first floor with apartments above, about 580 units. Some of what I was overseeing is the elevators which there are thirteen, stairwells, misc. metals, mep level three down and the vertical to the roof. Also level three down with all finishes. This includes lobby finishes to parking garages. Level three is under all three towers and is five floors.

Overseeing thirteen elevator installations, stairwells, miscellaneous metals, and everything from lobby finishes to parking garages.

Opus:August 2016- FEBRUARY 2018

Superintendent

Highlight: Superintendent on the 92,000 square foot Charter Communication Building. During the second phase we erected a second floor, steel and concrete, and added an elevator. First and third phase was building out a 25,000 square foot data center.
